Title: ”Decoding Neuronal Vulnerability: Integrating Neurodevelopmental Influences and Molecular Mechanisms in Neurodegeneration”
Abstract:
Neuronal vulnerability in neurodegeneration is a complex phenomenon shaped by both intrinsic neuronal properties and interactions with surrounding microglia. This project aims to unravel the molecular logic behind selective neuronal susceptibility, with a focus on the hypothalamus, a critical brain region responsible for homeostasis. By leveraging single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, we will construct in silico gene regulatory networks (GRNs) to identify molecular drivers across development and neurodegenerative stages. These findings will be validated through in vitro CRISPR-RNP screening, live imaging, and single-molecule fISH, followed by in vivo studies. Understanding these mechanisms is crucial for developing targeted therapeutic strategies to mitigate neurodegenerative diseases.
