Department Forum Elections
As described in the mail sent by Morten Pless on 21.12.2012 to all biomedical employees and students, a series of departmental election meetings will be held on Wednesday 9.01.2013. Six VIP candidates, 6 TAP candidates, 1 PhD student and 1 "ordinary" student must be elected. The Department Forum is advisory - on virtually anything. I won’t be present at the election meetings (I’ll be attending a course for departmental heads), but would like to call on all of you to show up to ensure a broad representation.
New Departmental Research Committee
The committee, which advises on major decisions, presently consists of the following appointed persons: Anders Børglum, Anders Nykjær, Jens Peter Andersen, Poul Henning Jensen, Steffen Thiel, Søren Moestrup, Søren Nielsen, Søren Paludan, Ulf Simonsen, Helle Praetorius, Christian Aalkjær, Morten Nielsen, Thomas Corydon, Thomas G. Jensen.
New Departmental Chart of Accounts
The Department has received a new "harmonized" chart of accounts to be used for 2013 bills. Anni Mandrup Høeg and Charlotte Brandt will forward a guide. The old chart of accounts (and NOT the 2013 chart) must be used for the remaining 2012 invoices etc.
Building projects
The construction webpage contains a subscription feature which will notify you by mail of construction news and updates of the webpage. Latest update is an interview with me and considerations as to the distribution of research groups in the various buildings.
Meeting with the Dean on 1 February
A meeting between the entire Department and the Dean is scheduled for Friday 1 February 13.30 – 15 and will take place in Store Anatomisk Auditorium. The programme will be on strategy and construction. The speakers are: Søren Moestrup, Christian Aalkjær, Birgitte Lüttge, one or both of the deputy Heads of Department (Thomas Corydon and Morten Nielsen).
Other Departmental Meetings in The Next Six Months
We have evaluated the local meetings held in the autumn of 2012. They were successful, but also very time-consuming.
Department meetings for the next six months:
- 4 house meetings (Bartholin, Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology / Biophysics)
- 1 common VIP meeting (six local VIP meetings in the autumn)
- 2 Department meetings
- 1 meeting for English-speaking VIP
More information will follow.
Pure
It’s important that all 2012 activities are registered before 1 February, especially scientific publications – so why not update your pure-profile already now. If you experience difficulties, you may contact Zitta Nygaard for assistance. Deadline is 1 February. Best practice is to import your articles from PubMed (if they appear/are registered in the database). In case of “ahead of print”-publications, best practice is to delete the publication and re-import it (by PURE). Worst practice is to type (any publication) by hand.
2013 Strategy Means
Approx. 18 million Dkr is expected to be earmarked for strategic initiatives at Health in 2013. Many of the initiatives are interdisciplinary, but specifically for biomedical Biacore and FACS core facilities is Dkr 750.000 and Dkr 500.000 for a new phenotyping facility.
Discontinuation of Free Fruit Scheme
Unfortunately, we have had to discontinue the free fruit scheme in the Bartholin building. The estimated total costs (approximately Dkr 100,000) for the entire Department will be too expensive.
Best regards
Thomas
