The presentation will review the knowledge on the aquaporins in normal and pathological brain gathered the last two decades, highlighting the difficulties to study them in absence of specific pharmacological tools. The review will focus on AQP4 and AQP9 and various roles in the central nervous system. These channels have been proposed to be involved in water homeostasis, energy metabolism, cell migration, astrogliosis and recently in clearance of waste out of the brain (glymphatic system).

The seminar is related to Luca Bordoni's phd defence which takes place at 15:00 (please see separate announcment).
