Abstract
Renal Fanconi Syndrome refers to impaired function of the proximal tubule with consequent loss of glomerular filtrate in in the urine. Associated clinical signs and symptoms include hypovolae[1]mia, hypokalaemic acidosis, hypophosphataemia, low-molecular weight proteinuria and im[1]paired 1-alfa hydroxylation of vitamin D with consequent rickets/osteodystrophy. In this talk, I will review genetic investigations into Mendelian forms of renal Fanconi syndrome and the resulting mechanistic insights into proximal tubular function.
