Students at medicine and odontology will soon be able to apply for admission to the research year. This is a year where the students can leave their books behind and instead work with spreadsheets, interviews, pipettes and microscopy, while learning more about their subject. Places are still available as the annual quota has not yet been met, says Vice-dean for Education Lise Wogensen Bach.

"After a period during where we had to reduce the number of research year students due to the study progress reform, we were given permission increase the number to 112 per year a couple of years ago. At present we admit approximately 75 research students annually, so there are places available. I therefore hope that supervisors and lecturers will make sure the students are fully aware of the scheme and encourage them to apply."

There are two annual rounds of admission for research year students. Applications open on 15 March with start in September.
