Abstract:
Using models of neurodegenerative disease, Dr Fleming will show how assessment of behavioral outcomes can inform and in some cases lead the direction of pathological analyses for different neuropsychiatric, cognitive, and motor syndromes. Including a battery of behavioral assessments can help create a preclinical profile and provide the foundation for novel therapeutic intervention strategies in many neurological conditions.
Within this context Dr. Flemming will also discuss her lab’s recent data on cognitive dysfunction in models of Parkinson’s disease. She will describe experiments that revealed changes in multiple cognitive domains including executive function, attention and recognition memory, and visuospatial memory.
